Why do so many cyberspace recipie sites have weight loss ads?

Posted on 28. May, 2009 by admin in Questions about Weight Loss

I was searching cyberspace for a gingerbread cookie recipe.
Every site I hit, had an advertisement for some sort of weight loss product?
Is this supposed to encourage me to make GingerBread cookies.
Do people want to be reminded about their weight, while searching for Ginger Bread recipes?

Would this type of advertising make you more or less likely to try out cookie recipes?

because the sites like allrecipes.com, etc. sold there ad space to weight loss companies and the reason these companies want to advertise on the recipe sites is because they figure people looking for recipes eat and if they eat they could be trying to eat healthy and if they are trying to eat healthy then maybe they are a potential customer of theirs.

Good question, you would think that a better place to start advertising weight loss would be at Macdonalds!
But what Jessica said is so true….she beat me to it.

I think because so many people are overweight and are attracted to the "quick fix" approach to losing weight rather than the "eat right and exercise" one. I would just ignore them.

I think it's the season. They're trying to get a jump on New Year's resolutions.

Just look at all the questions on this site, you Americans are obsessed with sweet fattening foods! I have never seen the like. You use too many commercial ingredients in your savoury foods, like cans of soup, ready made sauces etc. If you use only fresh ingredients & totally make your own dishes from scratch, no-one need remind you of your weight problems. And I hear there is a big obesity problem in the USA.
